Maggie Lasher has been a devoted movement artist her entire life. She began dancing at a very early age, earned a B.A., M.A., and M.F.A. in dance, and is now a dance professor and program coordinator at Houston Community College. Since 2008 Maggie has been the founding and artistic director of Holding Space/Spacetribe, a contemporary dance and flow/fire arts company, and Maggie and the company perform original choreographies in a variety of settings throughout the year. Throughout her career Maggie has been exploring the relationship between the flow arts and dance, and has recently expanded into the flow festival community where she regularly teaches and performs. She will be presenting on the flow arts at the National Dance Education Organization annual conference, and was recently ranked as one of the top 40 buugeng performers in the world. In addition to her work in the flow arts, Maggie has also held residencies with Rice University and Freneticore, has created over 50 original pieces of choreography, including evening length and fire performances, and has been named one of Houston’s Creatives by the Houston Press.
