Senior Ballet Program Director and Coach

Vitacca Ballet & School for Dance is for focused dancers, including lower school ages 3-9, upper school 10-18, to professional, offering annual training opportunities for college preparation and professional dance careers.

Position

Reporting to the School Founder and working closely with Vitacca Artistic Staff, will assist in efforts as Vitacca Ballet continues to grow as a full-service, internationally known school. We are searching for classically versed candidates with strength in the Vaganova teaching methods to fulfill a salary position as Senior Ballet Program Director and Coach. Applicants should have 3+ years of Senior Staff experience, be well organized, and embody a positive, team player attitude.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Assist the Artistic Director in effective use of artistic resources
  • Assist in recruiting dancers and students, when required
  • Teach ballet technique plus coaching at all Vitacca locations
  • Lead weekly studio company and student soloist rehearsals as needed
  • Assist in resetting/Staging classical variations per studio company soloist (pre-season: May through August)
  • Lead group variation and contemporary coaching sessions
  • Private coach studio company dancers weekly as scheduled and privately at personal rate
  • Act as liaison/teach at Vitacca annual workshops and intensives
  • Plan/schedule/facilitate and offer feedback at season reviews: Solo Studio Review, Solo Preview Event, Fall and Spring Dancer Evaluations
  • Create, staff, and facilitate production schedules: Winter and Fall Productions- lead pre-performance barre, tech/dress rehearsals, attend performances
  • Attend/participate/Lead in two Artistic Staff Meetings per month as scheduled
  • Co-direct and rehearse with the support of the Staff of The Nutcracker, school production
  • Direct and rehearse with support of the Associate School Director, Spring Soiree (one-act ballet) school production
  • Attend/coach as needed, Youth America Grand Prix (regional and finals) and ADC International Ballet Competition (regional and finals)
  • Co-facilitate seasonal Studio Company evaluation meetings with support of the Woodlands Associate School Director
  • Aid in creation, Staff and Manage all program and production schedules, including but not limited to: annual training schedule, Summer intensive schedules, competition call schedules, Production schedules
  • Adhere to annual program budgets and work diligently to meet or exceed budgetary goals
  • Facilitate parent meetings as needed
  • Oversee and promote the quality of teachers/classes in line with school curriculum with bi-seasonal reviews/student assessments

Contract Outline:

  • Agreement beginning August 2026 (negotiable)
  • Exclusive teaching and coaching contract, within the employer’s willingness to hire the employee, is the value exchanged for the employee’s agreement not to compete within this radius.
  • Paid bi-weekly
  • Work Weeks – (2) Pre-season weeks, (35) Standard Training Season, (7) Summer Training Season
  • Artistic Off Weeks (10 weeks) to be used for season planning as needed- Season off weeks are based on HISD/CISD schedule and include observing: Labor Day, MLK Day, Easter Friday and Monday, Winter Break (*1.75 weeks), Spring Break (1 week), Summer- (2 weeks) *Please note Vitacca’s Winter Workshop is scheduled for two days during the winter break, plus (5) personal days
  • Standard Schedule based on no more than 25 teaching/coaching hours per week. Note: Teaching hours may vary in accordance with season commitments, including performances and competitions.
  • Two Production Weeks (Schedule to be determined, divided between Artistic Staff and agreed upon within weekly staff meetings)
  • Additional events/hours may include (in addition to teaching schedule): Auditions and Workshop/Intensive days (Schedule to be determined, divided between Artistic Staff and agreed upon within weekly staff meetings)

Compensation and Accommodations:

  • W2 Salary Position: $60,000 (base)
  • Monthly health/wellness stipend and out-of-state signing bonus/relocation stipend available
  • Additional Compensation: private coaching hours/rates determined by Ballet Master as an independent contractor
  • Vitacca provides all travel and lodging accommodations for Vitacca out of Texas events
