THE IDEA OF GOD: Is He the creator, or is he my creation? Does God reside in art, or is art a pathway to him? Do I seek Him, or is She in me?
This solo full performance by Dr. Apoorva Jayaraman in the classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam, explores the idea of God in Indian philosophy and thought through previously unseen texts and narratives. From the ancient Hindu scriptures, the Vedas, and the oldest Tamil language literature in the form of Sangam poetry, all the way down to revolutionary and modern writings of the 21st century, this visual journey probes the Indian understanding of God through the centuries.
