The National Endowment for the Arts’ Grants for Arts Projects (GAP) provides expansive funding opportunities to strengthen the nation’s arts and culture ecosystem. Grants are available for arts projects in a wide variety of artistic disciplines. To leverage the greatest opportunities for federal support and to strengthen the ecosystem, each artistic discipline has identified the types of projects that are of greatest interest within this program as well as the characteristics of competitive applications.

The GAP grant opportunity is for projects small, medium, or large, which take place in any part of the nation’s 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. jurisdictions.

The NEA will accept applications in February 2025 for projects that start on or after January 1, 2026. Be sure to put these dates in your calendar now and give yourself ample time to square away your registrations with SAM.gov, Grants.gov, and Login.gov prior to the Part 1 deadline. The second GAP deadline is in July 2025 for projects that will take place on or after June 1, 2026. An organization may only apply to one GAP deadline per calendar year.

Review the GAP Grant Program Details for a detailed description of the grant program, eligibility information, award information, an application calendar, a list of unallowable activities/costs, application review details, FAQs, and federal award administration information.

Also review the Dance Application Instructions which include information on how to complete and submit both parts of the application and a detailed description of the Dance discipline, types of accepted projects, and characteristics of competitive proposals.
