Join Dance Source Houston for the next professional development offering in our 2023-24 series! In this lighting design for dance workshop, participants will be led through lighting basics by Designer Tiffany Schrepferman and have an opportunity to engage in conversation around the most effective ways to communicate lighting and technical needs between designers, technicians and dancemakers. This workshop is ideal for dance educators, independent choreographers, company directors, and more.

Tiffany Schrepferman is a Lighting Designer/Production Stage Manager who is passionate about partnering with remarkable artists and creators to bring their visions to life. Tiffany holds a BFA in Dance from Belhaven University and has been touring nationally & internationally for the last dozen years or so. Along her travels, she has worked for the American Dance Festival at Duke University for over a decade, and also the University of the Arts seasonal Dance Series. Some of the thrilling collaborators she has had the pleasure of sharing time with include Kinetic Light, Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre, Tulsa Ballet, Ad Deum Dance Company, Gaspard & Dancers, Amirov Dance Theater, METdance, Hope Stone Dance, Dance of Asian America, Vitacca Dance Project, and many others. In this recent session, Mary Manning and Emily Vinson from the UH Libraries led dancemakers through presentations and discussions to help identify which archival materials you want to preserve and show you how to organize and provide access to them. Due to the large amounts of video content often in dance archives, the session also highlights those and discusses digital files, as well as copyright and share resources.

Mary Manning is the university archivist and curates the Performing Arts Research Collections at the UH Libraries Special Collections. She is currently working with Karen Stokes to launch the Houston Dance Archives. Mary aims to ethically manage the collections she curates at UH as well as empower people to archive and preserve their own collections.

Emily Vinson is the Preservation Coordinator at the University of Houston Libraries. She holds an M.S. in Information Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, with a Certificate of Advanced Study in Preservation Administration. Prior to joining UH Libraries, Emily was an archivist at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, New York Public Radio Archives, and New York Public Library.
