Short Description
Hello all,

I am the artistic director of ‘ Shree Krishna Dance Academy’ Sugar Land Texas. I started my learning journey of indian classical art form named ‘ Bharatnatyam’ at the age of 6 and found my love and passion for the classical art form. Eventually, over the growing years, I got an opportunity to learn the various traditional folk dances of India like Ghoomar, Chirmi, Godhal, Beda dance from Rajasthan through my college performing arts.

Short Description
Rachel Redding is a dancer, choreographer, teaching artist, and photographer based in Houston, Texas.

With roots in ballet, jazz, modern, and commercial dance styles, Rachel has been performing locally in Houston for over 10 years. She has had the pleasure of training with a variety of choreographers in Houston along with performing with many local dance organizations over the years such as Dance Houston, MetDance, Houston City Dance, SoReal, WyldStyl Dance Crew, Dance Source Houston and more.

As a choreographer, Rachel blends her experiences in the commercial, theatrical, and contemporary dance worlds to create work that seeks to inspire and entertain. She has presented original works at Dance Source Houston’s “Mind the Gap” series, the University of Houston, Lamar University, and Sam Houston State University. Rachel continues to explore new and innovative ways to blend her favorite styles of dance for stage and screen projects.

As a teaching artist, Rachel's goal is to create spaces for students to feel free to be exactly who they are. She encourages and values experimentation, exploration, and thoughtful discussion. Rachel's approach to teaching dance is informed by her experiences in university dance training and commercial and community hip hop training outside of academia. Rachel is passionate about creating student-centered spaces where the idea of perfection is thrown out. She celebrates mistakes and emphasizes the importance of somatic safety over aesthetic demands.

Rachel has a BFA in Dance from Sam Houston State University. She continues to perform, teach, and choreograph work on a project basis.
